Danish 'pølsevogn i københavn'

Brunnsparken Fikastället

Gothenburg, Sweden, 2022

In association with Dan Ljungar & Jeppe Bracht

Fikastället is inspired by the simplistic and ritualistic nature of the Danish pølsevogn kiosk., while drawing a narrative from nature; a flower bud that opens itself and unfolds its leaves, revealing its receptive interior.

The green painted steel kiosk unfolds its large perforated facade during the day, becoming a roof for customers on a rainy day, while filtering sunlight and animating the ground below on a sunny day. At night the perforations allow for the soft glow of the artificial light to shine through an illuminate the square.

Beneath the green steel facade is a raw, industrial layer of polished stainless steel and glass, presenting a counter top for customer to lean against to the street and a facade of two-part windows, which can be rolled up depending on the season and weather.

The warm lacquered birch interior has a simple and functional design. The building is accessed from the east, through the goods reception corridor, which provides access to the toilet with changing room, garbage room and storage, and the sales room/kitchen itself.
